Meet the Team

Dr. Jay Freedman opened his dental practice in 1980 after graduating from Temple University School of Dentistry. Dr. Freedman is a lifelong resident of Eastern Montgomery County. He attended Roslyn Elementary School, graduated from Abington High School, and received a BS in Biology from Temple University.

In addition to his private practice, Dr. Freedman is an active member in multiple avenues of organized and educational aspects of dentistry. He has been on staff at Jefferson-Abington Memorial Hospital as a member of the Dental Division since 1989. As a senior staff member, his responsibilities include post-graduate clinical and didactic resident education, new resident selection, and committees for materials, new technology, and curriculum. Dr. Freedman's office is one of the two offices for resident mentoring.

Dr. Gradwell began his career in periodontal practice in 1988, working as a restorative dentist during his residency program. He has maintained his professional relationship with Jay Freedman, DDS & Associates, PC, for 22 years, transitioning from a restorative dentist to the office's periodontal and implant surgeon. In Dr. Freedman's office, state-of-the-art esthetic dentistry is provided in conjunction with dental implants, crowns and bridges, esthetic veneers, and the treatment of periodontal disease. In 1990, Dr. Gradwell opened his private practice in Allentown.

Dr. Gradwell has been active on staff at Lehigh Valley Hospital since 1991. He has served as Vice Chairman of the Department of Dentistry and Clinical Chief of Periodontics. He currently serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Lehigh County Senior Center. As an Eagle Scout, Dr. Gradwell is committed to community service. He also serves on the Occupational Advisory Council for the Lehigh Career and Technical Institute.

Coleen has been working with Dr. Freedman since 1994. Coleen's responsibilities include maximizing patient benefits, sequencing and coordinating patient care, appointment scheduling, e-mail communication, financial arrangements, and billing, and she partners with the whole staff to provide excellence in patient satisfaction.

Coleen lives locally with her husband. She enjoys home remodeling, painting, and gardening and is our office’s Ms. Fix-It. Coleen shares a great love of Disney World with her two sisters, and they vacation together as much as they can.

Alyssa has been Dr. Freedman's EFDA (Expanded Functions Dental Assistant) since graduating from Manor College in 2008. Not only can she make your teeth look beautiful, but she loves helping to calm and comfort patients, trying her best to make each visit as pleasant as possible. Alyssa is the expanded function dental assistant (EFDA) assisting our periodontist, Dr. Gradwell, in performing implant surgeries and full mouth reconstruction surgery.

"It's so rewarding seeing these patients before and after their surgeries, what a difference we make in their lives." Besides spending weekends in Cape May, Alyssa and her husband spend their days chasing after their two sons and their dogs.

Kathy has always been in the healthcare field and has been on staff at Jay Freedman, DDS & Associates, PC, since 1989. Her interest in dentistry and compassion to help others have inspired her to continue her education. In 2009, Kathy completed the Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) program at Manor College. In January 2010, Kathy took the Pennsylvania State Board’s exam and became a Licensed EFDA.

Kathy has a love of all animals, including rescuing dogs. She is home to two very lucky babies! She enjoys the summertime, kayaking, and spending time on the deck in the summer, listening to the Beatles, Queen, and classic rock, and going to the beach. She is a proud Gaga to her grandson.

Maribel is a lifelong Abington resident and a graduate of Abington High School. She is fluent in both Spanish and English, having learned Spanish at home and English in school. Maribel has an older sister and a younger brother.

After starting here at Jay Freedman, DDS & Associates, PC, her love of Dentistry exploded, and so in 2023, she took a course on dental assisting and dental radiology. In January 2024, she took and passed the Radiation Health and Safety exam. Her newest goal is to become an EFDA (Expanded Functions Dental Assistant), and she will start the program at Manor College in Fall 2024.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends!
